How it started

It started with a Viking

Brown Bros. Garage started with two brothers, Andrew and Hudson, a love for cool cars and trucks, and a willingness to figure things out. There wasn’t a complicated formula behind it. Take things apart. Learn how they work. Build them back better.

Fresh out of college, they built a 1960 Chevy C60 Viking with a 24-valve Cummins for the Goodguys show at Texas Motor Speedway. Here’s how that truck came together.

The story

From a field in Boyd to the Viking

  1. Hempstead, Texas

    The spark

It started with our good friends at 362 Customs down in Hempstead, Texas. Troy Stuart and his boys, with help from the Brown brothers, did a cab swap on a diesel Dodge truck. That truck sparked the idea for the 1960 C60 Viking.

  2. Boyd, Texas

    Found in a field

The cab was sitting on a local farm near our shop in Boyd, Texas, rusting away in a field. Andrew Brown rescued it and set out to give it new life.

  3. Back at the shop

    Brought home

Out of the field and into the shop, where the real work could start.

  4. The build

    Late nights

Piece by piece, the rescued cab became a 1960 Chevy C60 Viking with a 24-valve Cummins.

    The finished Viking

Here it is finished, even towing Pigpen. Once the truck hit social media, people from all over started reaching out, and what started as a passion became Brown Bros. Garage.

What we do

Old character. New power.

We build one-of-one vehicles that bring together two things we love: the character of classic American iron and the capability of modern diesel power.

We aren’t interested in stripping the personality out of an old truck just to make it new. The history, imperfections and character are part of what makes these vehicles worth building. That might mean a diesel swap into a truck built generations ago, a cab swap, custom fabrication, wiring, or solving a problem nobody makes a part for.

Shared with everyone

Brown Bros. Garage has always been about more than finished vehicles. We want people to see the process: the fabrication, mistakes, problem solving, first starts and late nights before a truck ever makes it to a show.

Through YouTube and social media, people around the country follow a project from an idea on the shop floor to the first time it drives under its own power. We hope it gets another generation interested in building things. You don’t have to know everything before you start. Sometimes you just have to be willing to turn a wrench.

One of one

Never the same truck twice

Every Brown Bros. project has its own story, purpose and personality. Some are built for customers. Some begin as ideas we’ve wanted to bring to life ourselves. The standard is the same: build something memorable, and build something we’d be proud to put the Brown Bros. name on.
